Debut Album to be Released This Fall: Part Two – written by Carolyn O’Neill

Yet another musical project that manifested itself in 2012 was the brilliantly hilarious idea of Resolution’s former receptionist, Theresa Vishnevetskaya. One day last spring Theresa mentioned to me that she had decided that she wanted to start a doom metal band. Knowing full well that she was 4 months pregnant at the time, I immediately offered my services for this bizarre adventure. For this band, who Theresa named 10,000,000,000,000,000, or Quadrillion, I play bass guitar. The band also consists of Theresa’s husband, Ignatiy Vishnevetsky on keyboards, and long time friends Drew Durepos on guitar, and Ben Miranda on drums. The music is a mix of drone, goblin, doom metal and gothic electro pop, which sounds something like Bauhaus, The Cure, The Melvins, Black Sabbath with a sprinkling of Twin Peaks all mixed together at once. Put a pregnant growl singer on top and you’ve got MAGIC! The culmination of our initial endeavors was our very first performance, which conveniently placed our lead singer, Theresa…growling and howling away on stage exactly one week before giving birth. That performance with Quadrillion was hands down the most fun time that I’ve ever had playing music. Anyone who was at the show will surely never forget it. Quadrillion will also release their first album this year. For a taste of Quadrillion click here! .

Last but not least, this past weekend I was lucky enough to have British music connoisseur and reviewer, Mark Barton, come across a link to my music and he wrote quite a lovely review of what he had heard for his online blog ‘The Sunday Experience’ . In his review Mark mentions that, “If asked to explain what I find so appealing about the work of Ms O’Neill/Rasplyn I’d have to say it was the varying spectrum of styles applied…”. At this point I am classifying myself as a Composer & Performer of Classical Fantasy, Ambient, Drone, Apocalyptic/Industrial & Metal Music. How exactly all of this came about…I have no idea. I can really only say that it has been luck and good company, but I sure am having fun! Square Peg in a Round Hole recently released my piece ‘Scenes Through the Magic Eye’ on their 4th Compilation, which can be found hereĀ . The same track as well as Abyss of Hell/Clouds of Fire will also be featured on Sissy Pesticide’s Online Variety Talk Radio Show, ‘The Night Show’ with host Ladyaslan on April 6th. Tune in to at 10:45pm CT.
